The "Big Heart" award goes to Nicolas Gilliet
The artistic director of JazzAscona Nicolas Gilliet will be awarded with the "Grande Cuore" (Big Heart) Award, attributed once a year by the Swiss Alzheimer's Association. The announcement was made yesterday by the president of the Ticino section, Antonio Saredo Parodi, before the gospel charity concert organized by JazzAscona to raise money for the New Orleans vocalist, Lillian Boutté, who is suffering from Alzheimer's. The award, accompanied by a check for 2000 Swiss Francs, is presented annually to people, groups, volunteers, or relatives who distinguish themselves in helping Alzheimer's patients. A disease that affects more and more people, it requires ample information and strong solidarity. Nicolas Gilliet will be awarded on September 24 in Tenero, during the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the Ticino Alzheimer's Association. The concert for Lillian, with the participation of her niece Tanya Boutté and of many friends, was held in the Papio church and followed by a large crowd. During the festival you may purchase a special CD with Lillian Boutté's unpublished works, produced by Nicolas Gilliet.
