Swiss Jazz Award 2017 to Bruno Spoerri
The Swiss Jazz Award 2017 goes to Bruno Spoerri. This year – the 11th time the Award has been presented – the expert jury decided to forego a public vote and instead to recognize the life's work of one of Switzerland's premier jazz musicians. The 81 year-old Bruno Spoerri is a fixture on the Swiss jazz scene. He is one of its most prominent figures as a jazz musician, and in particular as a saxophonist. Always ahead of his time, Spoerri was also one of the pioneers of electronic music. In a musical career that spans more than 60 years, he has played with countless important musicians and also made a name for himself as a composer of film music.
