A band and a CD to help Lillian Boutté who is suffering from Alzheimer’s

JazzAscona could not remain insensitive to the fate of the “Queen of Ascona”, the 67-year-old New Orleans singer, Lillian Boutté.

JazzAscona could not remain insensitive to the fate of the “Queen of Ascona”, the 67-year-old New Orleans singer, Lillian Boutté.

Official Ambassador of New Orleans music in the world since 1986, Lillian is suffering from a severe form of Alzheimer’s and requires constant care. Back in New Orleans she is now surrounded by the love of her family. She is in need of around the clock healthcare and of special support, but like many artists, the vocalist unfortunately does not have a sufficient medical care insurance. For this reason JazzAscona director, Nicolas Gilliet, a friend to Lillian, has launched the project “You’ve Gotta Love Lil!”

At the Ascona festival from June 27 to July 1, her niece, Tanya Boutté, together with numerous fellow musician friends, will perform  a solidarity gospel concert at the Papio Church on June 28 and followed by a series of concerts that will promote  “You ‘Ve Gotta Love Lil”, a limited edition CD that collects the singer’s unreleased songs, recorded in 2007 and produced by Nicolas Gilliet. All takings will be donated to support Lillian’s care.

Further a special fundraising concert will take place at the Jazz Cat Club in Ascona on April 6th.
