The Fatsology Sextet came to life as a homage to one of the greatest musicians in the history of jazz: Fats Waller. Composer, singer, and pianist, from his days as a member of Erskine Tate's orchestra to his collaboration with Andy Razaf, Waller created a vast and extraordinarily rich repertoire that is revived by this new band. The presence of two giants of Italian jazz such as guitar poet Sandro Gibellini and drummer Gianni Cazzola (born in 1938!) are a quality guarantee for this excellent band. One of the most prolific and appreciated instrumentalists on the Italian jazz scene, Cazzola has worked with artists such as Art Farmer, Chet Baker, Dexter Gordon, Billie Holiday, Clark Terry, Gerry Mulligan, Johnny Griffin, Steve Lacy, Joe Venuti, Shella Jordan, Lee Konitz, Tommy Flanagan, and many great Italian jazzists.
