An uncommon talent with the desire to do all he cans to get to the people’s heart: At only 19, John Michael Bradford is already headed towards a luminous career. After having received his grandfather’s old trumpet at age 9, within a week he was playing second line. A year later he started performing on the streets of New Orleans, earning enough to buy a professional trumpet. With the help of artists such as Nicholas Payton, Terence Blanchard, and Delfeayo Marsalis, the apprentice quickly learned the ropes: for two years in a row he won the Seeking Satchmo Trumpet competition and gained critical attention by playing in The Big Apple with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and touring Japan with Donald Harrison Jr. In 2015 John Michael enchants the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and, a few weeks later, it’s the turn of the Ascona audience, in one of his first Europe gigs. He is currently studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Do not miss him!
