Born in New Orleans in 1977, Kevin Louis is known for his beautiful tone, swinging feel, and soulful improvisations. He most certainly is one of the leading figures of the new generation in the Crescent City. He not only produces his own music (with albums like Music is My Religion released in 2012 and Loved Ones, in 2015) but is also member of various bands, such as the The Duke Ellington Orchestra. In Ascona in 2015 he performed alongside Shannon Powell, whereas in 2016 we will admire him with the New Orleans Jazz Vipers. Louis is a graduate of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) ('95) and has earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance at Oberlin Conservatory of Music ('99). Kevin has also received a Masters of Arts from the Aaron Copland's School of Music at Queens College in New York ('01). He has performed in thirty countries, on prestigious stages (Montreux Detroit Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz, Istanbul Jazz festival among others), and has shared the stage and/or released albums with artists such as Dave Bartholomew, Dr. John, Bobby Watson, Victor Lewis, Jimmy Heath, Kermit Ruffins, Roland Guerin, Victor Atkins, Carmen Lundy, Nicholas Payton, Henry Butler, Jesse Davis, and many more.
