Plays with Palm Court Jazz All Stars
Leader of the Palm Court Jazz All Stars, talent scout, arranger and musician, Lars Edegran is one of the key figures of traditional New Orleans jazz. After leaving his native Sweden at age 21, he moved to New Orleans in 1965 where he soon joined the music scene of the Big Easy, playing the piano, clarinet, banjo, and guitar alongside great masters such as Doc Cheatham, Sammy Price, George Lewis, Louis Nelson, Jim Robinson, Jabbo Smith, or Louis Barbarin, with whom he also recorded numerous albums. Edegran was also nominated for a Grammy for the original cast album of the “One mo’ Time” musical. In the early 1980s he also launched the career of vocalist Topsy Chapman, with whom he still regularly collaborates today.
