Another member of the next generation has certainly been making a name for himself: we’re talking about Simon Lott, a sensational drummer, highly on demand, who works between New Orleans and New York. Born into a family of musicians around Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he started playing gigs at age 15 and played in various formations and many musicians throughout the United States (with Charlie Hunter, for instance). Inspired by the music of the Meters, legendary funk band from New Orleans, Lott is an extremely versatile musician who ranges from funk-jazz crossover to swing, to traditional jazz. He is also a drum teacher at the University of New Orleans. He has released a few CD: “In the Parking Lott of Swing” (self-produced in 2002) and the psychedelic “Things” (2010).
