From the Sanremo Music Festival to swing: Simona Molinari, one of the most elegant artists of the Italian panorama, starts over from her roots, from the “soundtrack of my life, jazz”.
Dates: Thursday 30.6 2016
“Casa Mia” (Warner Music) is a rare jewel that leads singer Simona Molinari back to her roots, reinterpreting some of the jazz standards, for the first time. Her album includes ten all-time favorites, performed by Molinari’s band, the Mosca Jazz Band, and enriched by a precious collaboration with the Roma Sinfonietta, Ennio Morricone’s symphony orchestra. The result: an album that leads us straight to Molinari’s heart. «After a long journey …I return to Casa Mia (literally: My home) – says Simona Molinari – I start over from there, from jazz the way I like it, from my life’s soundtrack. I took the records I own (and I own many!) and chose the songs I wanted to sing. Jazz…a lifelong passion, jazz…”.
Known to the broad Italian audience through her participation at the Sanremo Music Festival in 2009, 2013 (with La Felicità presented in a duet with Peter Cincotti), and in 2014 as guest, Simona Molinari has collaborated with internationally renowned artists such as Al Jarreau, Gilberto Gil, Andrea Bocelli, Massimo Ranieri, Ornella Vanoni, Fabrizio Bosso, Franco Cerri, Stefano Di Battista, Dado Moroni, Roberto Gatto, and many others, performing in theatres, in important festivals and jazz clubs, from the Blue Note in New York to Moscow’s Estrada Theatre, from the Tenco Award to Umbria Jazz. Last year she presented the successful tour of her live project “Loving Ella”, a tribute to the great Ella Fitzgerald and biographical anecdotes from her controversial private life.
