Members of the renowned Chicago Stompers, Mauro L. Porro and Martino Pellegrini are also a duo that has made a name for itself thanks to a series of projects that explore 1920/50s jazz.
Multi-instrumentalist, Porro is one of the most brilliant European talents of traditional jazz; he performs solo, as bandleader and arranger (collaborating, for instance, with Vince Giordano’s orchestra). Pellegrini is instead a talented violinist who has worked with numerous prominent jazzists (from Lino Patruno to Stochelo Rosenberg) and pop musicians (Enrico Ruggeri). He has a soft spot for the music of Joe Venuti and Stuff Smith, two extraordinary violinists of the Swing Era. The project that the duo presents in Ascona is dedicated precisely to them. They are accompanied by guitarist Yuri Biscaro or, alternatively, bassist Marco Rottoli.
