Depuis 2010, le public de JazzAscona a la possibilité de choisir son groupe préféré parmi les formations participant au festival. Le groupe le plus voté remporte le droit d'être invité l'année suivante. Le prix est sponsorisé par l'Azienda Elettrica Ticinese (AET).

Swiss Jazz Award

Créé en 2007 par Radio Swiss Jazz et JazzAscona, le Swiss Jazz Award a pour objectif depuis ses origines de promouvoir la musique jazz suisse. Initialement conçu comme un prix du public, il est depuis 2017 décerné directement par un jury d'experts à un musicien suisse particulièrement méritant.

Sister Cities Award

Créé en 2006, l'Ascona Jazz Award récompense chaque année des personnalités de la scène musicale et jazzistique (en particulier de la Nouvelle-Orléans) qui se sont distinguées au cours de l'année ou au cours de leur carrière artistique. Le prix est remis pendant le Festival et bénéficie du patronage de la commune d'Ascona.
