Dancing Hours
Jazz was born to make people dance, and at JazzAscona 2026 the call of the dance floor will be irresistible! Every evening on the lakeside, at 6:30 pm, the Dancing Hours will transform the square into an explosion of energy and swing. Renowned dance instructors will guide enthusiasts and beginners alike through an hour of pure fun, exploring some of the dance styles that made jazz history: Lindy Hop, danced in pairs, which set the Harlem ballrooms on fire with its mix of Charleston and African-American steps; the Shim Sham, a group dance born from a tap-dance choreography and hugely popular among swing lovers in the 1930s; Boogie-Woogie, a precursor of rock’n’roll in the 1940s; and finally the sensual Latin dances, whose fusion of jazz and Afro-Caribbean rhythms has conquered dance floors around the world. Whether you want to refine your style or try it for the first time, the Dancing Hours at JazzAscona are the perfect moment to experience jazz the way it once was: with the heart, with the body, with the music!
