New Orleans Babydoll tradition enchant the parades of JazzAscona

Saran Bynum is one of the leading representatives of the Babydoll tradition of New Orleans, a centuries-old practice in which women in elegant dresses, masks, and colorful petticoats parade during Carnival, symbolizing strength and cultural identity. Known as Babydoll Chyna Doll, she is a director, founder of 5th Dimension Studioz, and leader of the Southern Charm Babydollz. Granddaughter of activist Horace C. Bynum Sr., she has long been involved in the cultural and community life of the city, receiving awards and official recognitions. At JazzAscona, she will serve as Grand Marshal at the head of the brass band parades.
