The Mauro Porro Quartet is led by one of Italy’s foremost experts in 1920s Hot Jazz, Mauro L. Porro, a musician and multi-instrumentalist widely recognized for the philological rigor with which he revives early jazz. Through vintage instruments (early 20. century), arrangements faithfully reconstructed from 78 rpm records, and a deep knowledge of the historical language, the quartet brings back the energy, elegance, and vitality of pre-swing jazz. A project that combines musicological value with an authentic performing spirit, reviving the sound and atmosphere of the first jazz bands.
