NOJO5, great jazz with leading American musicians

The NOJO5 bring together acclaimed soloists from the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, a compact, swinging ensemble capable of alternating refinement and power, bringing to Ascona all the energy and elegance of New Orleans jazz. Well known to festival audiences are Gerald Watkins on drums, Amina Scott on bass, and Victor Atkins on piano, while Antoine Drye on trumpet is an established trumpeter currently active between New York and Europe. He studied in New Orleans and New York with masters such as Ellis Marsalis and Harold Battiste, and has collaborated with major names in jazz and pop as well as numerous New Orleans artists. His style, expressive and full of soul, places him in the lineage of the great jazz tradition. The NOJO5 will appear as an independent band in the first days of the festival and will later become the musical core of Glen David Andrews’ show.
