JazzAscona at the halfway point

Tuesday, June 30 marks the halfway point of the festival, with a varied day featuring concerts throughout the town, lunchtime events, and evening performances along the lakefront.

The day kicks off at noon with the String Duet of Love (12:00 p.m., Ristorante al Piazza), a sophisticated duo blending gypsy jazz and swing. In the early evening, the daily Dancing Hours event (6:30 p.m., Piazzale Elvezia) features a Shim Sham dance class led by Tony Buondancer.

Not to be missed is the debut of Latitudes – IMEP Paris College of Music (7:00 p.m., Blue LLama Terrace), featuring young musicians from the Parisian school and a fresh, open style of Jazz. 

Sean Ardoin returns to the main stage (8:00 p.m., Stage New Orleans), while Mitch Woods (8:30 p.m., Stage Elvezia) wraps up his run with the Rocket 88s.

Other concerts include Anthony Hervey’s quartet (9:45 p.m., Stage Seven) and a return to the roots of Jazz with The Jungle Jazz Band (9:30 p.m., Blue LLama Terrace).

A day of transition, yet full of inspiration, to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace as you move from one stage to another. Tuesday, June 30, marks the halfway point of the festival.
