JazzAscona, the grand finale
The 42nd edition comes to a close today with a long day of music, starting at noon and bringing many of the festival’s highlights from the past ten days to the lakefront.
Kicking things off—and the perfect way to get into the final spirit—is the Nanna Carling Swingband (12:00–14:15, Ristorante al Piazza) with a series of rotating sets: upbeat and light swing at lunchtime.
In the early evening, there’s a double bill at the Eden Roc Marina featuring Nanna Carling (6:30 p.m.) and Manon Mullener (8:15 p.m.), bringing two of this year’s most beloved acts back to a more intimate setting.
The evening then unfolds along the lakefront, weaving together the various threads of the festival: classic Jazz with Ali Affleck and The Traveling Janes (7:30 p.m., Stage Seven), and the Swiss Armed Forces Big Band (8:00 p.m., Stage New Orleans) with its second concert of the weekend, and the energy of New Orleans with Sean Ardoin (8:30 p.m., Elvezia Stage). Orchestral traditional Jazz also returns with the Syncopation Society Orchestra (9:45 p.m., Stage Seven).
The finale blends elegance and groove: Adonis Rose & the Phillip Manuel Ensemble (10:30 p.m., New Orleans Stage) closes out the night with their refined sound, while Vincen García (11:00 p.m., Elvezia Stage) pushes the festival toward its more physical and danceable side.
The final day also extends beyond Ascona, with Sabine McCalla (8:30 p.m., Lido di San Nazzaro), confirming the festival’s widespread reach.
