Adonis Rose & Phillip Manuel Ensemble: Jazz, soul and swing from New Orleans

Adonis Rose and Phillip Manuel return for the second consecutive year to JazzAscona together with a band composed of some of the finest musicians from New Orleans. Adonis Rose is a renowned drummer, orchestra leader, and arranger, Grammy Award winner and a central figure on the city’s contemporary jazz scene. Phillip Manuel, a native of New Orleans, is an elegant and refined crooner-style singer who has shared the stage with legends such as Terence Blanchard and Bill Summers, establishing himself as a sensitive interpreter of jazz, blues, soul, and gospel. On record, he is known for his reinterpretations of Nat “King” Cole and James Taylor, as well as classics by Duke Ellington and George Gershwin. The ensemble will perform two concerts recorded “Live at JazzAscona” for the Cold Plunge Records label, featuring pieces specially composed by Gregg Hill.
