The new voice of “Jesus and Jazz”: a gospel concert with Emma Nissen

JazzAscona welcomes Emma Nissen, 25, the voice that set social media ablaze with her unmistakable Jesus and Jazz: a modern, jazzy gospel where soul, improvisation, and spirituality coexist naturally. At the end of 2023, a reel of her song Breathe went viral, surpassing 100 million views within a few months. The buzz around her talent caught the attention of stars such as Lauren Daigle, SZA, and Queen Latifah, as well as musical director Adam Blackstone, with whom she performed at the Blue Note in New York and collaborated on Love Like You, her debut album. This year the young artist has been invited as headliner at the” 28. annual Ella Fitzgerald Music Festival”, bringing to the stage not only outstanding vocal technique, but also a message of hope and light. At JazzAscona, the Swedish-American artist will headline the gospel concert on June 29 in a voice-and-piano duo, followed by a second performance with extended band.
