Boogie, swing and tradition: Silvan Zingg with Peter Verhas

In addition to his irresistible one-man show, the Swiss king of boogie-woogie Silvan Zingg returns to JazzAscona with his trio (with Zingg on piano, Nuno Alexandre on bass, and Valerio Felice on drums), this year joined by saxophonist and clarinetist Peter Verhas. Verhas is a widely known and respected musician on the Belgian jazz scene, particularly in traditional jazz, swing, and mainstream styles. Active for several decades, after his classical studies of clarinet, flute, and piano, he started playing jazz at the age of 20, learning to play the saxophone as an autodidact. During his career he has led important swing bands for many years and performed with Belgian and international musicians such as Freddy Sunder, Tars Lootens, Leroy Jones, and Dana Gillespie.
