Sean Ardoin: Creole roots, zydeco energy

Sean Ardoin is one of the central figures of contemporary Creole music and one of the leading interpreters of zydeco. As descendant of a legendary Louisiana musical dynasty — which includes pioneer Amédé Ardoin — he began playing at a very young age, growing up immersed in tradition. As accordionist, singer, and bandleader, Ardoin combines deep respect for Creole roots with a modern, engaging energy. This innovative approach has earned him five Grammy nominations, including one in 2025 for the album Back To My Roots. He was already a guest at JazzAscona in 2022, where he thrilled audiences. In 2026 he returns with his quartet for an authentic, vibrant zydeco deeply connected to Louisiana culture.
